Model SDB-V6 — Dog Crate with Trunk Sill
The SDB-V6 is a custom-made aluminum dog crate designed specifically for car trunks where the door cannot reach the floor. If your vehicle has a high trunk sill — the raised edge at the back of the loading area — this model solves the problem with a built-in sill filler that bridges the gap perfectly, so your dog can walk in and out without jumping or stumbling.
Every SDB-V6 is built to your exact measurements. We don’t sell standard sizes. You tell us the dimensions of your trunk, and we build the crate to fit — snug, stable, and safe.
Most dog crates you find in pet stores are designed to sit on the floor of a room, not inside a car trunk. They’re either too wide, too tall, or the door swings in a direction that hits the trunk sill. We built the SDB-V6 specifically to solve this.
The defining feature of this model is the trunk sill filler — a solid wooden panel that fills the gap between the crate door and the floor of the trunk. This means your dog has a smooth, flat surface to step onto when getting in or out. No jumping over edges, no risk of injury, no stress before a car trip.
Trunk Sill Filler
The built-in sill filler is included as standard with the SDB-V6. It is made from the same waterproof plywood as the rest of the crate, finished to match, and sized precisely to your vehicle’s trunk sill height.
Wooden Side Fillers
The SDB-V6 features five wooden side panels made from waterproof plywood with no harmful additives and no sharp edges. The wood gives the crate a warm, finished look while also providing solid walls that keep your dog calm and secure during travel. Dogs feel more comfortable in a partially enclosed space — it reduces visual stimulation and anxiety on the road.
Bar Doors for Maximum Airflow
The door is made from steel bars with a powder-coated finish, allowing maximum airflow and ventilation. Your dog can see out, you can check on your dog through the rear window, and fresh air circulates freely throughout the crate. This is especially important on longer journeys or in warmer weather.
Security Lock
The door is secured with a robust safety lock that cannot be opened accidentally during transit. You can choose whether the door opens to the left or to the right — just let us know when ordering, based on how you access your trunk.
Fully Anodized Aluminum Frame
The structural frame of the SDB-V6 is made from fully anodized aluminum — lightweight, strong, corrosion-resistant, and hypoallergenic. Unlike steel, aluminum doesn’t rust. Unlike plastic, it doesn’t crack or warp over time. The frame keeps the crate rigid even during sudden braking or sharp turns.
Custom Color Combinations
The powder-coated iron corners and fasteners are available in different color combinations on request. If you want the crate to match your car interior or simply prefer a specific look, we can accommodate that.

How do I measure my trunk for the SDB-V6?
Measure the inner width, depth, and height of your trunk. Also measure the height of the trunk sill — the raised edge at the loading opening. Send us these measurements when ordering and we will build the crate to fit precisely.
How long does it take to make?

Can I install and remove the crate myself?
Yes. The SDB-V6 is designed to be easy to install and remove without tools. Despite its robust construction, it is light enough to handle on your own.
Is the crate suitable for all dog sizes?
The SDB-V6 is custom-made to your dimensions, so it can be built for any dog size. When ordering, include your dog’s measurements (length, width when lying down, standing height) so we can ensure the crate is spacious enough.
What if my trunk shape is unusual?
